Remodeled Sun Valley Lodge Now Open!

Remodeled Sun Valley Lodge Now Open!

Posted by Bri Cain on 15th Jun 2015

You could say that the Sun Valley Alpaca Co. team has left our hearts in Sun Valley, Idaho. As I've mentioned before, our founder and designer, Kim DeVos-Brooks, fell in love with Sun Valley many years ago and named her company for the area, feeling that it exemplified the rustic yet refined style of her line of alpaca goods. Though Sun Valley Alpaca Co. is now based in California, we still feel connected to Sun Valley, Idaho and daydream about escaping there for a summertime getaway.

After being closed for construction for almost a year, the legendary Sun Valley Lodge reopens today! In celebration, we're sharing some photos of the beautiful, newly revealed remodel.

The new and improved lodge now provides guests with 94 new and much larger guest rooms, a 20,000 square foot destination spa, a world class fitness center and yoga studio, a glass enclosed outdoor pool and pool cafe, and all new reimagined restaurants, lounges, lobbies, and event spaces.

The historic resort lodge, originally constructed in 1936 as America's first destination ski resort, is being refurbished and updated for the first time in its 80 year history. The utmost care has been taken to preserve the character, history, and essence of this historic building. During the construction process, the lodge was stripped down to just the 13 inch concrete walls and support beams. But even though everything is essentially new, longtime guests will walk into the newly unveiled lodge and still recognize it, finding the same warm and cozy style but updated to today's standards. The lodge's past will also be remembered and celebrated inside with over 250 historical photos of Sun Valley displayed throughout the property, many showing esteemed celebrity guests.
