Certifiably Pure: Inca Tops Awarded the Oeko-Tex Certificate

Posted by Bri Cain on 27th Apr 2015

We've mentioned on our blog in the past that we at Sun Valley Alpaca Co. take pride in our commitment to sustainability and our transparency regarding the factories and knitters that we work with. One of them, Inca Tops S.A. of Arequipa, Peru, is once again making inspiring strides in the world of eco-friendly fashion. They recently were awarded the Oeko-Tex Certificate for Commitment to the Natural Environment, a well-deserved recognition for a company who's long been focused on producing yarns from the purest raw materials possible.

The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textile products, certifying that they are free of harmful substances and pose no risk whatsoever to health. Read more about the award in Inca Tops' official announcement below:

“For over fifty years we have been working with raw materials which are mostly the products of nature's wisdom and richness; materials where man's intervention is minimized, thus preserving the purity of our products.

This work, close to nature, has made us realize that the virtues of better and finer yarns are those derived directly from the source, without spoiling the fiber with alien substances that substantially alter the original characteristics of the products.

It is thus that, following our principle of responsible operation, care for and commitment to the natural environment, Inca Tops S.A. has been awarded the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate, which certifies that our yarns are free from any harmful substances, and meet the all the requirements for use by human beings, including babies.

Certification was conceded after a rigorous evaluation carried out by international specialists to ascertain whether or not our products meet all the requirements of Appendix VII of REACH.

This is one more example of the commitment of Inca Tops S.A. to working responsibly and in accordance with our principles of sustainability.”

We are so thankful that because of working with ethical companies like Inca Tops S.A., we are able to proudly sell products made from responsibly produced yarns to our customers. If you are concerned about wearing fibers that are either synthetically produced or covered in harmful chemical dyes and pesticides, you have come to the right place. You can be assured that Sun Valley Alpaca Co.'s products are made from the purest natural alpaca fiber in existence!
