Each alpaca blanket is as warm as a heavy, bulky merino wool blanket, but at roughly 1/3 of the weight and thickness. Wool holds up to 30% of its weight in moisture, where as alpaca wool holds less than 8%. This means not only less bulk, but less humidity around your body while sleeping. The "hydromorphic" structure of the alpaca hair insures that Alpaca blankets do not retain odor so they need laundering less-often than others.
