Our Alpaca Bed Blankets are your solution if you are looking for a cozy soft and snuggly warm natural alpaca blanket. Alpaca bedding will keep you more comfortable than any other cotton, acrylic or wool bed blanket, because it breathes, keeping you warm - not hot. Many people tell us how they have experienced improved sleeping comfort and ultimately a better night’s sleep.

No bed is complete without this luxury addition. Go-ahead turn down your thermostat! Alpaca is naturally thermal, insulating the animals from the temperature swings that occur in the Andes, -4F at night, to 70+F in the daytime. The thermal properties work for humans too! Alpaca naturally wicks away moisture, keeping you in your perfect micro-climate and deters bed bugs. It will keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

We strive to craft the finest blankets, period. That starts with the finest alpaca - soft, natural, dye free, expertly woven without the fuzz and hairy appearance of other alpaca blankets, so that you and everyone who snuggle under it, will be perfectly cozy. The super-fine alpaca fibers we use are expertly woven between micro fine acrylic threads, crafting a blanket that will not only be delightful, it will wash and wear beautifully providing years of enjoyment, without shedding. It is hand finished with a beautiful crochet edge, a traditional way of finishing blankets in Peru.

Each alpaca blanket is as warm as a heavy, bulky merino wool blanket, but at roughly 1/3 of the weight and thickness. Wool holds up to 60% of it's weight in moisture, where as alpaca holds less than 8%. This means not only less bulk, but less humidity around your body while sleeping. This "hydromorphic" structure of the alpaca hair means that Alpaca blankets do not retain odor so they need laundering less-often than others. Each is naturally flame retardant as well as hypoallergenic - free from lanolin & dander (again, an aid for allergy sufferers) and the uniquely thin fibers are on par with cashmere, having a softer feel than sheep' wool.

One night under this blanket, and you'll wonder where has it been all your nights?!

we like it

4/5
We are pleased with the queen sized alpaca blanket we received and are using it as our primary blanket. I would prefer if it were woven with slightly heavier yarn and if it were packaged in such a way that the creases due to folding were not so persistent. Still, it is a lovely blanket.

This blanket is awesome

Very nice quality and it is just the right warmth but you can't even tell it is on the bed because it is so light weight.

Warm, soft, beautiful!

5/5
I've been lessening the amount of plastic/chemicals in our lives and it made sense to get sheets & blankets that were made of natural fibers since we all spend so much time in our lives sleeping. We first tried a cotton blanket, but my husband didn't like the weight or its insulating abilities. We've had wool in the past and its been itchy & heavy too. After researching, I felt that Alpaca would perhaps be what we were looking for. This blanket is cozy and works for the great shifts of temperature we can get in southern Colorado. So far this Autumn...we aren't getting overheated or too cold with this blanket. Its light-weight, soft, and its trimmed in a beautiful crocheted edging. Best of all...my very allergic husband hasn't been bothered by it! Although it was not cheap, I feel this blanket has been worth every penny and I don't miss those synthetic-fiber plush blankets we had before!

Makes for a better night sleep

5/5
I was looking for a natural bed blanket and found this. I have to say sleeping is far more comfortable now with this blanket. I don't wake up hot or sweaty anymore. The blanket is lightweight but really warm - far more cozy than the one it replaced (cotton). I am buying a second for our daughters bed. She loves how ours feels.
