Once thought to be a mythical animal, Spirit Bears are a real species, also known as the North American Kermode bear. Spirit Bears are a special American black bear. They are not polar bears or albinos, their striking color is caused by a unique recessive genetic trait. Less than 100 exist and they are very hard to spot in the wild.

Our Spirit Bears are a tribute to these rare “black bears” with their unique snow white, ivory or tawny fur, brown eyes, dark nose pads, and nearly white paws & claws. Legends tell of a time when the glaciers receded, and the Raven, the Creator, made just 10 Spirit Bears in three luminous colors filled with significance:
- Snow white = pride, dignity, and honor,
- Ivory = compassion, truth and love,
- Reddish tawny = independence, courage and wisdom, (and are the most rare!).

Just like the real bears, ours have a slightly smaller and more triangular head with the same brown eyes and black noses. As these are hand made items the size may vary slightly. Incredibly cute each makes a cuddly companion.

CARE: Wipe with a damp cloth and allow to air dry, then brush gently. Do not submerge in water which will ruin it. Alpaca fur does not absorb water and has no lanolin or grease that can hold dust or allergens. Your bear may need fluffing upon arrival. Gently brush your Spirit Bear and shake to fluff back to its natural beauty.
