All Teddy bears and fur products, for that matter, that we sell, are made from Friendly Alpaca Fur. Friendly Alpaca Fur means that alpacas are never harmed to achieve their fur or pelt.

These products are hand made in Peru, which has a vastly different perspective and means of husbandry for their alpacas. Vet services are rare, as most Peruvian alpaca ranchers do their own care and can not afford the medical benefits that we offer livestock here, thus loss occurs more frequently. Additionally the breeders are looking for the strong to achieve maturity, creating a strong herd, and offer very little preventative care for the young. When young animals die naturally; which can occur due to heath (a cold or virus), environmental changes (a cold spell or snow), or genetics (born with a defect), they are utilized, eaten and the pelts sold. This also helps the alpaca breeders achieve some value for their loss.

Alpacas are always most valuable when they are alive, and it is the goal of the people who breed alpacas, in all countries, to see their crias, or baby alpacas, achieve maturity, and become successful providers of fiber and future alpacas.
